Masham Movie Festival!

Masham Town Hall is a handsome, 101-year-old building, literally and socially at the heart of the busy and historic market town. Since 2012 we have been showing “Movies in Masham”, with enthusiastic audiences supporting films new and classic, Yorkshire and ‘foreign’, children’s films, silent films… anything that’s been thrown at them, all on state-of-the-art digital projection equipment provided by Cine North*.

Thanks to support from Harrogate Borough Council’s Arts and Heritage Grants Fund, we are able to expand the Spring 2015 season into the first Masham Movie Festival, with 15 films and supporting events running from February through to May.

Masham Movie
With a season of Tuesday night British films, including three “made in Yorkshire”, Saturday family screenings of children’s and young adults’ films, and special events, the Masham Movie Festival offers something for everyone in Masham and beyond. Many films will be accompanied by special events, and all will be preceded by “supporting features” of recent animated short films and/or local documentaries.

The Festival begins at 7.30pm on Tuesday 3rd February with BELLE (12A), the riveting directorial debut for Amma Asante which The Independent described as “a spirited, good-natured and crowd-pleasing costume drama”.

Other highlights include other recent major releases including MR TURNER and THE IMITATION GAME, Yorkshire-made films including THE SELFISH GIANT and LAD: A Yorkshire Story, films for children (e.g. THE BOXTROLLS, MALEFICENT) and young adults (e.g. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, THE FAULT IN OUR STARS), and movie classics LOCAL HERO and A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH.

Tickets for the Masham Movie Festival are just £5 for Tuesday evening films and £3 for family films on Saturdays. Season tickets for all 15 films are just £30. Tickets from Masham Community Office, 7 Little Market Place, Masham HG4 4DY, tel. 01765-680200.
