CURTAIN Up Productions (CUP) – a small group (20 members) of locals from Great Smeaton and surrounding villages are holding a charity race night for the Friarage Hospital’s MRI scanner appeal.
The MRI Gold C.U.P. stakes – racing with a twist – fun event will be held in Great Smeaton Village Hall at 7.30pm on Saturday 14 November 2015.
There are eight races each with eight horses with 48 horses are for sale at £5 each (races one to six) with the seventh race being auctioned on the night and the eighth race being the winners from the first seven races plus a lucky raffle winner.
Guests are encouraged to own a horse and join in the fun. The winners of first seven races will receive a bottle of bubbly and a rosette and the overall winner (race eight) will win a bottle of bubbly, a rosette and £50.
Racegoers are encouraged to bet on each race at only 50p minimum stake. There will also be a bottle of bubbly and a rosette for the best turned out lady and gent (optional).
Entry tickets are £5 per head and include a tasty pie (from Taylors Butchers of Darlington) and pea supper. Race goers should bring their own drinks. Contact Jane or Dave Lawson on 01609 881607 for tickets. Please book in advance to ensure adequate catering.
