The hit Broadway production Of Mice and Men, filmed in New York and starring James Franco (127 hours, Milk), is being showcased in Thirsk.
Local arts charity Rural Arts has recently this month become a National Theatre Live streaming venue. Every month local residents will have the opportunity to see highly anticipated screenings at the atmospheric venue The Courthouse, which has an on-site Café and Gallery.
The season begins with Golden Globe winner James Franco and Tony Award nominee Chris O’Dowd starring in the ‘riveting, powerful production’ (Independent), Of Mice and Men. This landmark revival of Nobel Prize winner John Steinbeck’s play is a powerful portrait of the American spirit and a heartbreaking testament to the bonds of friendship.
The screening offers a unique chance to see an acclaimed Broadway production in your local venue, without the hassle of a long journey. The American classic has received the top Broadway treatment, directed by Tony
Award-winner Anna Sharpio.
The plot follows two ranch workers, George Milton and Lennie Small, as they move from place to place in search of new job opportunities. Time magazine hailed the production as ‘a moving masterpiece.’
“We are very excited to be screening such high quality productions directly to our venue. The experience you receive as an audience member is second to none and National Theatre Live goers have said they can’t remember whether they saw productions in London or whether they were at a screening!” says Sophie Backhouse, ON Tour Manager.
Of Mice and Men is being screened at Rural Arts, The Courthouse on the 19th November at 7:00pm. Doors open at 6:30pm. Adult Tickets £15, Under 18’s & Over 60’s tickets £12.
