THIRSK & Northallerton Golf Club’s donation to the Friends of the Friarage Hospital has provided a welcome boost to the Friarage Hospital MRI scanner appeal.
Ms Dee Naughton ladies captain and Mr David Brown gentleman’s captain swung into action organising lots of fun and entertaining golf themed fundraising events at the golf club throughout the year.
Generous members at the golf club, nestled in the beautiful countryside of North Yorkshire, raised a fantastic £2,370 for the appeal after choosing it as their charity of the year.
Chairman of The Friends of the Friarage, Dr Upendra Somasundram, was delighted to accept the cheque. He said: “We are very grateful to all the generous golfers at Thirsk & Northallerton Golf Club and everyone who helped for their fantastic support. It is a very worthwhile cause which we will all benefit from.”
The Friends are working in partnership with South Tees Hospitals Charity to raise £2million for an MRI (scanner – an essential piece of medical equipment used to investigate almost any part of the body) – at the Northalllerton hospital.
Over the years they have raised several millions of pounds for the hospital, tirelessly helping staff and patients and supporting the wards and departments with their incredibly successful fundraising and profits from their successful and popular hospital shop.
